I first saw Mickey in Diner. Such range. Such warmth. Such skill. Pauline Kael, in the New Yorker, told her readers to pay especial attention to him with Body Heat.

Daniel Day-Lewis is the ultimate chameleon. Who else could play a gay Cockney skinhead, an Irishman with cerebral palsy, a 19th century New York gang leader, et cetera?

There are certain actors, that come around that have it all. Movie star looks and incredibly great acting chops. Rourke had the whole package, but refused to fall into the game of just taking any role

One of the most moving and beautiful pieces I've ever heard is his re-working of Deborah's Theme (from Once Upon a Time in the West) to a very tender, ethereal song sung by Celine Dion, lyrics by Alan and Marilyn Bergman, produced by Quincy Jones. Look for the studio recording video on utube. Very beautiful in every way.

I was originally gonna be in this role but I couldn't because my best friend Robert Downey JR said that only "Homos make bombs" and I decided not to do the role and graciously recommended my best friend Mickey Rourke to my best friend William "Wild Bill" "Hurtin Squirtin" Hurt. I thought I'd do better but I instead played the killer in 12 Angry Men.

Tarantino can obviously talk about Deniro’s other performances. I just didn’t like when he talked about Jackie Brown as if that could even hold the jockstrap of any of Deniro’s all-time performances. The end where he explodes in rage is great, but the rest of the time he doesn’t really know how to use him. Scorsese knows where to turn and go and Tarantino doesn’t. It’s men and boys
